At the end of September – beginning of October 2023, I visited Altai for the second time. This time with a plein air organized by the Kuvshin studio. Altai is a stunning place with untouched nature. Even despite the rain and cold weather at the beginning of our plein air, we have managed to do a lot and have visited different places of this region.

I would like to present to you a video about my trip.

“Make a Wish”, 40x40cm, Oil on canvas, 2023

“It is not known where the tradition of putting pebbles in a pyramid came from. There are so many of them in Altai that they have already become a characteristic feature of the landscape. And shouldn’t I say about the color palette of water in mountain rivers ranges from emerald to bright light green.”

“The crystal waters of Katun’ rivers”, 50x50cm, Oil on canvas, 2023

“Its well-known that one might endlessly look at three things: fire, water and how other people work. I suggest you look at the water and besides, I worked on it.”

“When two rivers meet each other”, 50x40cm, Oil on canvas, 2023

“This is the place where two rivers merge into each other. One river is not so strong, but clean and transparent, at the bottom you can see every pebble of a different shade. And the second river is a seething emerald stream that destroys everything in its path. Hundreds of clear mountain streams together turn into this power.”

“I Follow Rivers”, 40x40cm, Oil on canvas, 2023

“Altai met with severe weather at the end of September. It rained for two days and there was a piercing wind. But even in such weather, nature delighted me with stunning colors.”

“Rainy day in Altay”, 40x40cm, Oil on canvas/panel, 2023

“It was the first evening plein air and I had only one hour to work. The sun sets early in the mountains and it immediately becomes dark.”

“Last ray in the mountains”, 30x60cm, Oil on canvas, 2023

“In Altai, you want to capture every corner and everything together at once. In the evening everything changes every ten minutes, it was the last ray of the setting sun.”

“Against the odds”, 60x30cm, Oil on canvas, 2023

“So are people. A hero appears on whom the edge of the earth rests…”

“In anticipation”, 40x40cm, Oil on canvas/panel, 2023

“What could be better than to have a barbecue with a view of such fabulous nature as in the Altai Mountains.”

“The Greens of Altai”, 50x40cm, Oil on canvas, 2023

“Altai is full of colors in autumn. Pine and birch trees are all painted in their own shade of green, yellow, red. Altai is also famous for its herbs.”
